Worldyogapedia talk:General disclaimer
From Worldyogapedia
To whom it may concern,
Would you please consider, now that it's still managable, replacing all ô like in Yôga with a normal o ? This because the ô will cause a lot of scrambled text in browsers and wordprocessors worldwide and thus detract from the great idea of this project.
Sample: World Ygapedia Project
Thank you!
yogint
P.S.: are WYP sites in other languages also in the planning ?
Dear Yogint, first of all thanks a lot for participating, thats indeed an interesting point you bring. The first motivation to write Yôga with a "^" its because actually Yôga has indeed an accent in sanskrit, thats the ô-ki-matra, which translated from sanskrit means "the accent of the o", there is a deep rigorous and academic justification for it given by Shrí DeRose, I will add in future to the Yôga definition in the Glossary. But indeed your point is valid as for how characters are handled in computer systems, and mainly in URLs, but I think looking at Wikipedia that somehow has grow to a dimension specially with chinese, arabic, etc characters, that today its no longer manageable in any easy way anyway. I would prefer to leave to the community of WYP to use which variant they like, for now the page its with Yôga, but who knows maybe someone will change it to Yoga, or even write it directly in sanskrit whenever they want to refer to Yôga, like for instance creating this page: योग. Most important is that it should not exist fundamentalism, and from another side changes should be clearly and academically justified. Thanks again for your contribution. Yes we plan to have in different languages, for now its in english, and could be a mix version maybe, where somehow pages could be divided. But thats a technical issue and hosting issue, do you have some technical or hosting knowledge/resources that you could provide to help managing the server?
Regards, Júlio Silva
